Artistic Statement

The breadth of Hamilton’s work embodies histories of African and African-American ancestry, coiled with futuristic bodily translations and contemporary social themes. Hamilton generates abstract narratives through interdisciplinary forms (dance-theatre, musicals, conceptual art, experimental, performance, text and film) at the intersection of cultural identity, spirituality and New Orleans jazz traditions. Edgy and episodic by nature, Hamilton’s curiosity is a continuum of decolonizing Black narratives and deconstructing social themes, while cultivating ecosystems for healing, elevation, abundance and social innovation through the arts.
